Stuart Gomes

Architectural Graduate

Enjoying art and design from a young age, Stuart always enjoyed the practical nature of
design, from sketching and technical drawing to model making.

He has a deep appreciation for architect Carlo Scarpa’s design rigour, material palette and attention to detail, and particularly his Querini Stampalia in Venice. Since moving to Australia, Stuart has seen these qualities echoed in the work of Glenn Murcutt and Peter Stutchbury, in intimate harmony with Australia’s ancient landscape.

As a graduate architect, Stuart works closely with lead designers, relishing the unique
challenges each project throws up, and the collaborative spirit these are approached with at Woodward Architects. He is cultivating a role as the practice’s resident model maker, whilst assisting with architectural photography also brings him great pleasure, providing rare access and enriching his architectural perception.
